In 2022, four sailors across the junior, youth and senior pathway have been selected to have subsidised access to our Performance Academy group training, a mentoring programme and team kit through our Performance Academy Sailing Scholarships. We are proud to announce that one of these sailors is Henry Redmond!
Henry is an ILCA 4 sailor competing regularly on the national circuit. He is a member and sits on the committee at Covenham Sailing club. We asked Henry to answer a few questions about what sailing means to him and his upcoming goals:
What is your next sailing goal?
My next goal is to compete in gold fleet at the ILCA 4 World Championships in Vilamoura.
What does sailing mean to you?
To me, sailing means competition, and that’s what drives me to keep improving. It’s also an escape from other parts of life when I’m out on the water. I enjoy it as it’s just me in the boat and i’m the one to make the decisions.
If you’re not on the water, where or how do you spend your time?
When i’m not out on the water, i’m normally doing some sort of exercise whether it be in the gym or out on my bike, or even walking my dog. I also sit on the committee at my club and for the YHYSA, as a youth representative.”
